Jean O’Brien – Founder
Jean is a digital industry veteran with over 15 years experience working on the web in digital communications and design. She has almost a decade of full time experience working as a digital communications specialist in Irish charities including Barnardos and Oxfam Ireland. In these roles she has built and project managed websites, developed digital strategies, planned and delivered content for online fundraising and advocacy campaigns, and worked on the development of internal processes. She is passionate about collaborative working and peer learning, and has participated in specialised peer training in ecampaigning and digital leadership in the UK, yearly since 2009. Jean set up the Irish Charity Web group in 2011 to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between Irish charities, and founded the Irish Charity Lab in 2014. Jean has a BA in English and an MA in Interactive Media.

Advocacy and communications expert
Catherine has over nine years experience working in campaigns, communications and advocacy for organisations including Barnardos, One Family, Bodywhys and Amnesty International. Her core strength is communications of all kinds, including using different communications tools to talk to different audiences. As Head of Advocacy & Community Engagement with Barnardos, Catherine has delivered numerous campaigns aimed at influencing national change through public engagement. Catherine was a key member of the Yes for Children campaign ahead of the Children’s Referendum in 2012 and has extensive experience in coalition campaigning within the not for profit sector in Ireland. Catherine is interested in how social change happens and how to build public engagement that influences politics and policy.

Digital fundraising and multimedia expert
Glyn Thomas works part time for the charity the World Development Movement in London as digital communications manager and part time as the UK Director for digital agency more onion. He has ten years’ experience working in communications, having previously worked at Friends of the Earth and before then as a freelance photographer and subsequently Director of the Footprint Images Picture Library.
At WDM Glyn has overseen substantial changes in the way digital technology has been utilised within the organisation. As well as developing a range of online actions as part of WDM’s campaigns, he has also worked on lead generation, supporter communications and online fundraising strategies that have resulted in a trebling of online actions taken on the charity’s website as well as substantial increases in online donations.
In 2013 Glyn also produced and directed one of the first interactive online documentaries made by a UK NGO, Dirty Money, exploring the impact of coal mining in Indonesia.

Online advertising expert
David Walker is an experienced online marketing professional, with over six years experience in all forms of online marketing (PPC, SEO, Social, Conversion, RTB, Email).
David is currently Director of Sub Rosa, a specialist digital marketing agency. He was previoulsy Head of Conversion, Ad Operations and Real Time Bidding at Paddy Power, as part of the Online Marketing Group, managing a team of seven specialists. Prior to that, he worked as PPC Account Manager in Paddy Power, managing the eGaming advertising spend (over €1,000,000 spend per year).
David has strong charity experience having worked with a range of charities in Ireland on online strategy including Oxfam, the IIEA, Campaign for Children, Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland, VSO, Ireland for Europe and We the Citizens.
David is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Trinity College Dublin.

Digital marketing expert
Heather is a digital business strategist focused on helping brands and agencies make the right technology choices and find the best agencies and technology suppliers to grow their business. Heather has been at the vanguard of challenging clients and brands across multiple categories to embrace a digitally led future, providing strategic leadership, becoming an authoritative voice on digital matters in the Irish marketing media and beyond. She launched AFA Advertising’s direct marketing arm in 2000, following which she moved into commercial space as chief marketing officer for online trading firm Delta Index. In 2003 she move back into the agency space heading up Ireland’s largest digital advertising agency Bluecube Interactive in 2008, followed by leading branding agency Tank/Huguenot before launching CDO’s unique market offering in 2011.
Heather is Ireland’s only IAPI and AAI accredited pitch consultant focused in the digital space. Heather is also a Mentor to Enterprise Ireland’s high potential start-ups on marketing and technology issues and is member of the Board of Directors of the National Ballet of Ireland.

Campaign communications expert
Justin is an accomplished communications and public affairs professional with 12 years experience in policy, advocacy and communications roles across different sectors. Justin has consistently delivered with limited resources. He currently works as the Senior Lead Communications Specialist for Eirgrid and has worked in the charity sector for Amnesty International Ireland and the European Anti Poverty Network.
Justin has led teams, coordinated work programmes internally and worked with external providers to ensure key communications and advocacy goals were met, while always identifying new ways to improve the skills and services those teams can provide.

Email and digital marketing expert
Adrian has been managing Digital Marketing at Concern Worldwide for three years and his work has been highlighted with success stories from Twitter, Facebook and online advertising company Quantcast. This has led to him speaking at a number of conferences where some people actually stopped using their smartphones to listen to him.
Before he worked for Concern he worked for Full Tilt Poker, in an email marketing role. He took what he learned there and applied it to Concern’s email programme to increase the return-on-investment by 582%. Because of this he still feels email is the area he can help people with most. Content and inbound marketing expert
Evelyn Wolf has been active in non-profit and for profit marketing for over 10 years. Her experience started in event management and she quickly moved to the world of online marketing. After four years in a digital marketing role in World Vision working on Irish and globally led projects with a social media focus, she moved back to the private sector. She is an inbound marketing evangelist who brought strategic advice to customers from all industries (profit and non profit) and from all around the world while working in HubSpot and has recently moved into a leadership position in a tech startup. Evelyn enjoys building content strategies with a purpose, SEO that actually delivers leads, truly engaging social media campaigns and integrated inbound marketing that leads to measurable results.
